Revision --- An important part of the preperations

Without revision.....its really impossible to remember such a vast list of chapters lined up for your exam.
So it's MUST to keep revising the chapters in due interval of time so keep everything intact in mind.
In my post I am going to discuss Why we need to revise??...... How to revise??......What strategies to follow when the exam is nearing??........Improving our capacity to remember things

Why to revise........
This one's an interesting question that i kept on asking myself when i used to see a bulk of contents to be studied for the first time and nearly an equal amount to be revised also.
As my revision test started i got my answer (though a bit late)
Our brain keeps on working all day and night...gets involved in a millions of activities (with or without our knowledge) keeps on piling up data continuously.
Once studied a topic it gets added to the bundle of knowledge.... and slowly is covered up with other things.
so revision is needed to keep in on the top every time .

But much important is How to revise?? and What strategies to follow ??1. A topic studied must have to revised at least once 3 weeks. Revision takes not more than half hour....just read the theoretical concepts , formulas and some solved examples.
This process is a MUST ,otherwise the chapter would soon fade away and will be difficult to recall even a little..... and hence would take up aa day to study it again from the very starting.

2. Tests are an important part of revision. Half hour or 1 hour test would be sufficient enough to build up confidence.

3. Take up challenge.
Never step back when helping others in any chapter....solving their queries and doubts.
It helps in 2 ways : Since its similar to test..it will test your concepts and on the same time will boost up confidence to higher levels.

4. Don't try to solve a number of questions..framed in a similar way.
Practice questions of different types while studying to get idea of how can a question be framed.
While revision MUST solve only already studied questions....DON'T WASTE TIME BANGING
  YOUR HEAD ON NEW ONES.
Tests are made for this purpose.

5. When the exams are on head , just revise the theoretical part and move on.
But it is must that all the previous steps have been followed before applying the last one.

"All the above points are compulsorily required to be followed. Choice is not provided  "

Lastly i would emphasis on sitting idle with rest mind or doing some meditation for just 10 minutes...will surely help in improving concentration and capacity to grasp and remember things.

ALL THE BEST

How to manage time and studies – Institute and school

Now I am going to discuss problems which almost all students with a tag ‘I am scared of school results’ face……
1)How can I manage my time between school and institute , it’s impossible? (….in addition to my enjoyment)
2)I am not getting good marks due to school ?(….which is just an excuse)
3) What should I do to get good marks at both places?(….please don’t ask me to study now)

Before answering to all problems I just want to ask something (even I can ask……)
Are all winners not school students??.....Are the students with such a brilliant record in schoolsand institutes not humans??......Am I working to my fullest?(MUST ANSWER THIS……)
Now let me clarify what’s the real scenario is……………
In school we have a lot of ‘good’ friends..how can we study in school?
We commit the same problem in institutes……making a students welfare association…..how can we concentrate???
our neighbourhood friends , my Sweet PC , facebook….omg……. can’t let us rest in peace……when should we study??
Are we here to enjoy our lives while preparing for engineering exams……where the cut offs are reaching skies.. no my dear friend
NOW JUST TRY AND FOCUS ON WHAT I AM DISCUSSING NOW…..
1)      We study same topics in both school and institutes. The difference is just that we try to focus on numerical in competitive exams whereas theory in schools…..but my dear friend numerical can’t be solved without having a clear knowledge of concepts nad theory part…..
If you are confused studying the same topic at both places in different manner…..try and focus at one place(If really want to get into engineering……choose institutes else school it not that much bad. :) ) .
2)      Always try to focus on your main aim…others victories will surely come to you……
Quoting my own example….I never attended school classes….had short attendences….no school registers..nothing…..(but this doesn’t mean that I am lazy or ‘bad’ boy)
On the other hand I never missed my institutes….related all topics to NCERT taught in institutes….made notes….practised modules…..and focussed on TOPPING the charts .
WHAT HAPPENED: I not only got a good college but a good score in CBSE.

3)      Frankly speaking if you are serious in your coaching studies , no one can’t stop you from getting good marks in school…though late but result will itself show……
So leave this excuse that I focussed on institutes so am failing here…or passing by grace..or vice versa in most cases unluckily.

SO TRY TO UNDERSTAND…..RATHER THAN MAKING EXCUSES…..START WORKING HARD ON IT AND ACHIEVE WHAT YOU WISH…………..
Still if you face any problem or need suggestion..comment box are always open to you till the net works….

How much study required to crack IIT - What schedule to follow PART II

In continuation to my previous blog I’ll now discuss some more questions popping inside a newcomer’s mind – “What to study?” & “How to study?”
It would sound awkward that what points I am discussing here.
You may be thinking that I have gone that now I am Teaching you how to study and What to Study………………!!
But trust me I am not here to teach all this………READ on and you will come to know
First let’s take up the topic….HOW TO STUDY
Please keep in mind that this is really a life changing question and will help you a lot in preparations
1.   Make a target: This means have target to complete. Decide in the beginning of the day, what all you will do today and try to achieve your aim.
But don’t have hectic schedule so that you are not able to complete your target or you start compromising on certain topics to achieve that target.

2.   Analyze yourself: Analyze yourself each day about your achievements and failures, analyze your tests, studies and much important is your attitude and desire.
Attitude and desire here means that you must keep in mind what’s your main goal and what you have to do to achieve that.

3.    USE simple 3 step method: Study(learn)à Apply(practise)àAnalyze(tests and revision).
This simple funda I followed and it helped me a lot.

4.   Study environment :
i)place : Choose a place to study and try studying at the same place everytime.
Away from sweet TVs ,COMPUTERS and lovely mobile phones.
ii)time : Select certain time hours when you are active and in a mood to study without external disturbance..one usually gets this time in early morning or late nights………but prefer morning time.

5.   Regular revision : Many students report a problem of having forgot  previous chapters while moving on other chapters.
REVISION is the only way out of this. Keep a check on previous chapters by revising them once a week/once in 2 weeks.

Let’s move on to the other question WHAT TO STUDY…??
This is the place where I got trapped and am seeing many getting trapped.
Hundreds of books of each subject labelled “good for preparations” are available in the book store.
When we see other’s having different books, suggesting one and another….we always feel like having all of them. THE BIGGEST MISTAKE THAT STUDENTS DO.
Just try to focus on the book you have got and try to complete that and make the most out of it. Don’t believe in SWITCHING of books for different topics .All books are same, Our mentality is different about them.

So what you should do…..Consult before buying any book…then decide on your own which you can study and just focus on that book.
Don’t get influenced away by others views after you have decided.
(SWITCHING option must not be used unless you are feeling of getting drowned by the previous book)
One of the MOST important thing one should do is to keep in touch with previous year papers .There are several uses of it:
1.    Helps you to match you up to level of examination.
2.    Makes you aware of the HOT topics that are being focussed onto.
3.    Helps you decide What all topics to concentrate much and what all to leave.
4.    Gives us a bunch of quality questions.
5.    Now a days previous year questions are being repeated or their types are repeated , so it will help a lot in preparing yourself for such tricky questions.

All the best…POST YOUR COMMENTS…telling your views or doubts related to the topic.

How much study required to crack IIT - What schedule to follow

How much we have to study..? Which schedule to follow…? When to study…? How to study…???
These are those questions which certainly arise in one’s mind while preparing for engineering exams.
But I have got a simple answer to all these questions ----  “…..WITH WHICH YOU ARE SATISFIED”.
Didn’t got it ..!! Try to understand.
Study that much with which you are satisfied.
Follow the schedule with which you are satisfied.
Study anytime and anything with which you are satisfied.

A human body takes time to adjust to certain situation…so rather than following other’s advice of what ,when ,how ,where to study , FOLLOW YOUR OWN.
Q1) How much we have to study?
Let me tell you I have seen many who studied just 2-4 hrs a day and have got selections , and many who are said to have ‘studied’ for 8-10 hrs. and still ‘collegeless’.
Why is that so? .........pretty simple...
For those having 8-10 hrs of so called ‘study’ actually includes 1 hr turning of pages to and fro…
2 hrs of day dreaming….. 1 hr of social networking(including mobile)…… 1 hr of roaming around in the house spreading rumours about their studying for so long…….and if they got time after sleeping for another 2 hrs…they study……..still ’study’.
What you need to do?
quantity doesn’t matters, what matters is the quality…..
how calmly and with full concentration you devoted  your time to studies.
Study as per your capacity and interest, although you can certainly increase your capacities but not by compromising your quality.
Q2) At what time and schedule?
It totally depends on your nature.
Are you a morning glory or a night owl….
Choose the time and schedule according to your nature ,and not according to other’s nature and advice.
And have a little breaks between your sittings , helps to refresh your mind and body (which is a must).

Since this post has now overflown with so much lines…making it boring ….I’ll discuss the rest points---‘what to study ? and how to study..? ‘ in my next post.

Do comment your suggestions and views…

Which is more important- COLLEGE or STREAM

Many of my friends ask me..........bro...!!COLLEGE OR STREAM.....
Although unable to clearly answer to what they have asked I still make them convince with my answer.
This is a pretty common answer you all have heard .........BOTH..
but still believe me after reading this you will never be in such a dilemma.....
First of all let's understand clearly both the options --
1. COLLEGE - Important in all aspects.......We always study hard..and ...harder...just to get a good college. WE ARE NOT FOOLS..that we are striving for a thing without any reason.
Firstly it's the college which defines YOU , your status , adds as a TAG TO YOUR NAME.
Secondly good colleges are said GOOD because of some reason - quality.
Better quality of education , better output , better is the PRODUCT .

2. STREAM -  Equally important as it defines your taste , choice , interest and your talent.
Many reasons makes it equally important even though we don't even think of it while preparation.
Firstly it will remain forever with you till you live....or at least work.
Secondly if it's of your taste you are likely to succeed , go ahead and cherish your life.

BUT BUT BUT.................THINK of a good stream without a good college .
It's just like Sachin Tendulkar in a country where cricket is not known .
It's just like a lion acting like a cat.......
Everything is inter related.
If you are caught in such a situation ask yourself these simple questions and write it down.......and you will get your answer...
1) Is the stream I'm getting in 'good' college.....bearable...or let's say understandable or matches any of my choices ?
2) Do the college providing me with the stream of my choice stand anywhere in front of the 'good' college I'm getting?
3)What's the scope of growth and innovations in the stream I'm getting in NOT SO 'good' college?
4)How much can I work upon my choice......If selected COLLEGE can I adjust to stream .....or If selected STREAM can I work hard so as to make my way out of NOWHERE?

If you have got your answers than you are on the right track......nd PROBLEM IS  SOLVED..
